It’s three straight months that expenses have fallen below $3,500! Therefore, the average expenses for the year is coming down nicely to around $4,300. Annualised, it will probably amount to $50,000 for the year.
However, that’s unlikely to materialise since these three months were relative anomalies with few big item purchases. I am still pondering how much money and effort I should pour into expanding my work and that would have a big impact on our expenditure in the next few months.
The next few weeks are going to be relatively “crazy” for me as there are new projects/proposals for my side venture and of course, exam season is drawing close!
Maybe, less opportunities to spend more money on meals? =p
Eating Out: $895.40
Hawker ($269.30) – As per usual between $200-$300.
Fast Food ($47.60) – I have not had Mac’s for a while as the Burger Up outlet at Waterway Point is my new go to place for fast food!
Restaurants ($578.50) – Saturday afternoons are free again as my student actually migrated to the States. This also means that we get to enjoy our meals on Saturday afternnoons and we are spending them at either Coca or Ma Maison at Takashimaya these days.
Groceries: $83
Supermarket ($83) – Three trips to NTUC. Replenished the shower foam and floor cleaner since they were “Must Buys” or “Purchase with Purchase”. Feel so aunty typing out all these.
Beverages & Snacks: $72.40
Snacks ($54.80) – Another durian purchase as the season draws to a close.
Drinks ($17.60) – I actually treated a couple of my students to Koi during a hot day.
Utilities: $186.85
Electricity, Gas & Water ($88.60) – Electricity usage was higher at 285kWh for this month. 15KWh of gas and 7.1 Cu M of water make up the rest of the utility bill. If haze persists, aircon will be switched on even more often.
Cellphones ($96.55) – $51.55 for me and $45 for the Mrs for our mobile services. Mine comes with upsized data.
Transport: $100
1 EZ Reload transaction for me and 1 for the Mrs.
Miscellaneous: $258.80
Gifts ($33.80) – Students’ birthdays as both of us got bought presents for our students.
Clothing ($225) – We got some new shoes from Skechers and the Mrs got an Annello bag from Qoo 10.
Total: $1,596.45
Overall Total: $3,281.45 (included fixed expenses of $1,685)
Hahahahah I feel like an aunty too when it comes to getting deals,,,
Hi Clive,
Thanks for dropping by! I am a full-time house husband and when I relate my day to my students, they will always gape in surprise.
“That’s what my grandma does!”
I feel you. After having our own place and still tracking expenses, I always feel so ‘uncle’ lamenting that we have been over-spending on groceries e.g. maybe we should cut down on that tub of Haagen Daaz haha. Oh well, at least we can approach the erm, problem, from the health angle instead of the cost angle and attempt to justify it.
Hi Kevin,
When I really want that ice cream, I will always justify that 2 desserts in a restaurant will make up the cost for it!
Anyway, I only get the Haagen Daaz when 2 tubs are below $22. It’s a no-brainer when it’s below $20.
