Crypto Resources I Use

Half a year ago when I first got deeper and deeper into the crypto rabbit hole, it was a really steep learning curve for me. All of the content and lingo sounded like nuclear physics, whether it’s staking, APY vs APR or impermanent loss.

But as I always tell my students who are struggling, all you need is just more exposure. And I lived by that.

Of course, some handholding helped greatly. But levelling up in this space is really up to the individual. Immersion really helped me, even when I did not comprehend the majority of the podcast, youtube or medium articles at first.

Slowly but surely, I managed to connect the dots and now, I am able to navigate decently well in the crypto and defi space, understanding the themes and discussions. And of course, more importantly, achieving some alpha at the same time.

If you are starting out and need some resources/guides, here are some of the most useful ones that I depend on.

Crypto Twitter

Short of joining project discords/telegrams, this is the closest to getting the latest important information in the crypto space.

And unlike traditional finance, all these news and announcements are generally not priced in fully. This is still a nascent industry after all.

When the liquidity mining initiatives for $AVAX and $FTM were announced, I aped in to front run most of the retail.

E-Girl Capital

I know some of you are disappointed that G has checked out temporarily on both his blog and Twitter. No more handholding for Sinkies, eh? Just look deep enough and you can still find some of his writing on E Girls Capital.

Not to mention other valuable content from anon cartoon characters like CL, Loomdart and Mewny.

They are how I got to find out about $ALCX and $AR. One of them has pumped so much while the other has not (yet).

Packy – Not Boring

Not Boring is one of the best business newsletters you can subscribe to, especially if you are anti-crypto, since most of Packy’s writing is not crypto-related.

His deep dives are a pleasure and I have especially enjoyed his pieces on Chinese stocks like Tencent and Baba.

But in a sign of the times, I can observe his increased frequency writing about crypto. Maybe that’s where all the opportunities are?

My instinct tells me that when Packy writes about something, that is when it becomes mainstream. When he wrote about $ETH in May, I added to my $ETH bags. When he wrote about $AXS in July, I added to my $AXS bags and when he wrote about $SOL (again) one week ago, I added to my $SOL bags.

Pretty simple and rewarding, huh?

Up Only

I find Up Only enjoyable and I see their videos as a form of edutainment. I especially enjoy Cobie (Cryptocobain)’s brand of humour and of course, his charisma.

If you are curious like me about how Crypto looked like back in the early days (history geek), do check out Tetranode’s (likely crypto billionaire) story. Of course, he also leaked plenty of alpha by shilling $RGT and $DPX too.

If you want something more entertaining, look no further from their session with Teen Executive. His predictions a month ago have been so spot on as $BTC has ripped past $40k and $ETH past $3k.

Taiki Farming Channel

I have degen-ed into a trader (occasionally) in the crypto space as the return/risk of certain trades were just so overwhelming in favour.  However, my psyche is generally more towards that of a farmer than a hunter.

I noticed Taiki after G shared one of his earliest videos some time back in April. I found him really likeable and humble and his farming strategies resonated with me. He is proof that you do not have to be “really early” to have a shot at making it. Well, he actually started defi at a similar time than me.

Just that yours truly was at BSC at the worst possible time and caught the polygon wave a little too late.

However, with his help and guidance, I managed to ape in to $DINO and $AVAX profitably in the past couple of months.

The Babylonians Channel

I have a soft spot for Asians and an even softer spot for Singaporeans. If we don’t help fellow Sinkies, who is going to do it? After all, NS binds us all together.

The Babylonians exposed me to the Luna ecosystem early, like six months ago. I was a total noob then and needed to be handheld. His detailed and step-by-step articles and videos explaining the $LUNA seignorage and Anchor protocol were essential for me to move further out the risk curve.

In fact, $LUNA was probably my first significant altcoin bag. Being 4-5 months earlier than Seedly has paid off pretty well thus far. It’s still a NGMI bag (<1000) but I am not complaining at a 4x.

The Reading Ape

For friends/mentors, I am prepared to shamelessly shill.

The Reading Ape is started by two Singaporeans whom I know and they have also helped me greatly in my crypto journey.

As you can see from the above, the resources available in the crypto space is vast and a time sink. What I have shared above could just be the tip of the iceberg. And unless you are pretty intense, it’s quite unlikely for most to sit through a 2 hour video or podcast.

This is where The Reading Ape comes in. They provide summaries of podcasts and videos so that the key points are easily digestable within 15 minutes of reading/browsing.

My advice is to subscribe through email for the best UX although you can also follow them on Twitter.

Their acticles have helped to gain a foothold into better understand the Play-To-Earn universe beyond $AXS and also the burgeoning NFT world. It also helped me to pick up some $GHST tokens.

As always, none of the above are financial advice. Please do your own research and due diligence even though crypto alpha is literally dripping everywhere.

Thank you for reading.
